How to Argue Against Abortion (SLED)

The unborn differ from the newborn in four ways that have disqualified them as persons (according to pro-abortion advocates). The acronym SLED is a helpful reminder of those differences.

1. First, size or physical appearance the unborn doesn’t look like a person.

2. Second, level of development - the unborn doesn’t have the same abilities as real persons.

3. Third, wrong environment - the unborn isn’t located in the right place as real persons.

4. Fourth, degree of dependency - the unborn is too physically dependent on others to be a person; he is not viable and can’t survive outside the womb.

Let’s examine each of these four arguments:

I endorse the evidence-based position presented in the the letter to the editor found at the link below.

As education is a matter of provincial jurisdiction under the Canadian Constitution, the Constitution must be honored.

This does not however imply that federal politicians cannot hold or express a vision of what education should look like. Federal politicians after all live in one province or another and are provincial tax-payers with vested interest.

The governance of a nation is no simple task and covers a broad spectrum of topics from transportation, to taxation, to healthcare to national defense.  These are important topics which are often in the news, yet there is a topic which is rarely in the news and which is often demeaned in the media; the topic is fatherhood.

On June 15, 2008, Barack Obama, in a Father’s day address, stated the following:

“We know the statistics - that children who grow up without a father are five times more likely to live in poverty and commit crime; nine times more likely to drop out of schools and twenty times more likely to end up in prison. They are more likely to have behavioral problems, or run away from home, or become teenage parents themselves. And the foundations of our community are weaker because of it.”

Ethics and accountability is vital in parliament as it is in our personal lives.
In parliament however, a code of ethics in process and in transparency should apply not only to the governing party but also to the opposition parties in the way that they handle themselves during question period.
Equally important is the ethics and morality upon which Canadian governance is founded.
Constitutionally our governance is founded on the principles of the supremacy of God and the rule of law in keeping with the preamble to the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms.
Functionally however, our governance is driven by popularity, judicial activism, special interest groups and special rights.

How Democracy Works (or Doesn't)

March 13, 2014

For the most part, Canadians are thankful to live in a democratic nation like Canada and exercise at least some of their freedoms. Unfortunately, some Canadians and perhaps the majority, take democracy and freedom of speech for granted, something that can never be taken away. The reality is however, that Canadian Freedom of speech has been shrinking for many years and is currently rapidly disappearing as the Human Rights of minorities are permitted to trump the fundamental rights of the general public. Nowhere is this more evident than in the circle of those whose identity is the Christian Worldview.

A worldview has been described as the sum total of our beliefs about the world, the “big picture” that directs our daily decisions and actions.

Jobs and the Economy

Perhaps the greatest drag on the economy is our national debt which currently sucks approximately $30 billion annually from our wallets in order to cover the interest payments on the current $560 billion dollar debt.  The Conservatives project that it will take at least another 4 years of deficit spending until we reach balance.  By that time we will be looking at a national debt of approximately $700 billion.

Debt payments will continue to pressure tax increases and tax increases will continue to cause Canada to lose it's ability to produce goods at a competitive price.  The result - lost jobs or lower wages or both.  The only true cure for our economy is to swallow the pill in whole and now.  CHP Canada proposes zero-deficit budget legislation and to treat the national debt like a mortgage – begin to pay it down.

We know what happens to family households who operate like this, why do we think it is any different for government?

Econmomy based on a solid foundation is a matter of principle and a principle that matters.
